1. Affidavit-of-service filed today be kept on record.

2. Learned counsel for the petitioner contends that the petitioner applied for a new electricity connection in his name but the same was refused by the CESC Limited on the ground of there being outstanding liabilities left by the erstwhile defaulting consumer.

3. Learned counsel for the petitioner argues that there is no nexus between the erstwhile consumer and the present petitioner.

4. Leaned counsel for the CESC Limited submits that although there are outstanding dues, no direct nexus could be established by the CESC Limited between the defaulters and the present petitioner. As such, the CESC Limited is agreeable to give a new electricity connection to the petitioner subject to compliance of all other formalities by the petitioner.

5. Hence, WPA No. 719 of 2024 is allowed, thereby directing the CESC Limited to give a new electricity

connection to the petitioner at the common meter board position of the location-in-question, subject to compliance of all due formalities by the petitioner, without insisting upon payment of any outstanding dues, positively within a fortnight from date or compliance of all formalities, whichever is later.

6. There will be no order as to costs.

7. Urgent photostat certified copies of this order, if applied for, be made available to the parties upon compliance with the requisite formalities.
