The petitioners are all unsuccessful candidates who have participated in the NEET-UG, 2025 Examination. 2.

Mr.

Rittik Chowdhury, learned counsel for the petitioners submits that the petitioners had participated in the three rounds of counselling as well as the stray and the special stray round but were unsuccessful and did not get allotment to any of the colleges in any of the course.

It is not the petitioners' case that any person with a lower rank than the petitioners have been given admission to any of the colleges for pursuing the MBBS course or BDS course. It is also not the petitioners' case that they have been unlawfully deprived of any right which has accrued in their favour. The only ground of the petitioners is of mercy, as submitted by Mr. Chowdhury, that in view of certain vacancies, the petitioners

ought to be allotted seats to enable them to pursue a career in medicine.

Deboleena Ghosh, learned counsel for the respondent no.3 submits that no particulars have been disclosed in the petition and more importantly since the petitioners were not successful after any of the rounds of counselling, the petitioners cannot be accommodated by way of allotment of a seat in any college either to pursue a degree in MBBS or in BDS. The prayer of the petitioners, if allowed, will create mayhem in the entire affairs.

The petitioners cannot as of right claim for allotment of a seat, particularly since they have been unsuccessful after five rounds of counselling (three rounds + two stray rounds). 6.

In view of the afore-stated, the writ petition is dismissed. 7.

There shall be no order as to costs.
