By an order dated August 21, 2017, WP 12935(W) of 2017 was disposed of by directing the Treasury Officer, Kakdwip to pay interest to the petitioners @ 9% per annum on the amount released in favour of the petitioners by way of pensionary benefits on and from June 15, 1990 till the date of issuance of the Pension Payment Order.

Several appeals were preferred by the Director of Pension, Provident Fund and Group Insurance from several similar orders as above. A bunch of such appeals was disposed of by the Hon'ble Division Bench by an order dated March 24, 2021, clarifying that interest would be payable in such cases to the petitioners on the arrear pension from November 01, 2010 instead of June 15, 1990.

In view of the above, I dispose of this contempt application by clarifying that the petitioners shall be entitled to receive interest @ 9% per annum on arrear pension from November 01, 2010 till the date of issuance of the Pension Payment Order. The Treasury Officer, Kakdwip, shall pay such interest to the petitioners within four weeks from the date of

communication of this order by the petitioners to such Treasury Officer.

Rule is discharged.

WPCRC 307 of 2019 is, thus, disposed of.

Urgent photostat certified copies of this order, if applied for, be supplied to the parties on compliance of necessary formalities.
