The prayer relates to a direction for expeditious disposal of a pending case No. N 89/2019 of Learned Additional District and Sessions Judge, 6th Court, Barasat, North 24 Parganas (Special Court) under NDPS Act.

The sole point raised by Mr. Chakraborty, learned advocate representing the petitioner is that when the accused is in custody since 02.06.2019 for the alleged recovery of 27.7 litres of codeine mixture, the petitioner's case deserved to be expeditiously disposed of.

Mr.

Ganguly, learned advocate representing the State/opposite party, submits that next date is fixed on 21st January, 2021 for supply of copy to the petitioner/accused. There cannot be any dispute that the trial court is about to fix date suitably for consideration of charge after supply of copy to the petitioner, subject to the congestion of cases pending before the learned judge holding the trial. When no date has yet been fixed for consideration of charge, the present revisional application be disposed of with the following

directions.

Learned court below in connection with the case referred to, is directed to fix a suitable date for consideration of charge after the scheduled date for supply of copy is over and proceed to hold the trial scheduling dates for collection of evidence aiming at ensuring expeditious disposal of the case. With the aforesaid observation the revisional application is disposed of.
