The petitioners have complained of inaction of the Inspector-in-Charge, Sundarban Coastal Police Station, Baruipur Police District. According to the petitioners, the complaints lodged before the police authorities, have not been acted upon.

The police authorities have filed a report from which it appears that there is a long standing dispute between the parties over a plot of land in question. The dispute is private in nature. On November 26, 2021 an altercation took place between the parties. The police authorities intervened and prosecution under Sections 107 and 116(c) Cr.P.C. was issued vide NCR No. 08/22 dated January 27, 2022.

It also appears that the police authorities have been keeping a sharp vigil over the land in question, so that no unlawful activity takes place. The police authorities submitted specifically that they are

willing to render all assistance to the petitioners in case the petitioners complain of further harassment. Under such circumstances, the writ petition is disposed of with a direction upon the Officer-inCharge, Sundarban Coastal Police Station to ensure that law and order is maintained and the petitioners are not unnecessarily harassed. The police report is taken on record.

The writ petition is disposed of.

There shall be no order as to costs.
