Learned advocate appearing for the petitioner submits that petitioner is in custody for a considerable period of time and in spite of direction of this Court there has been no progress in the case and the arguments of the case presently is continuing for one year. Learned advocate for the State submits that defence has been stretching time before the learned trial Court in course of the arguments and is praying for expeditious disposal before the Hon'ble High Court.

Having considered the overall circumstances that the petitioner is in custody for more than seven and half years, I direct the learned trial Court that the arguments may be concluded within one month after the concerned Court resumes its duties. Having regard to the final stages before the trial Court, I am not inclined to release the petitioner on bail.

Accordingly, CRM (M) 171 of 2026 is dismissed. Report submitted by the State be kept with the record. All parties shall act in terms of server copy of the order downloaded from the official website of this Court. Urgent photostat certified copy of this order, if applied for, be supplied to the parties upon compliance with all requisite formalities. (Tirthankar Ghosh, J.)
