1. This contempt application has been filed alleging willful disobedience of the order and directions issued in WPA(P) 484 of 2023 dated 19.09.2023. It appears that the D.L. & L.R.O., Purba Medinipur has submitted a memo addressed to the Assistant Additional Advocate General dated 17.05.2024.

2. It is seen from the said memo that the name of the alleged contemnor has gone down wrongly and the name of the learned District Magistrate and the learned District Collector, Purba Medinipur have been mentioned who has now been transferred from the District. In any event, the D.L. & L.R.O., Purba Medinipur who has taken charge on 01.11.2023 has taken up the matter and has assured in the said memo that the order will be complied with and the hearing has been fixed on 07.06.2024 at 1.00 P.M. to adjudicate the matter after issuing notices to all interested parties. Returning Officer for 31 Kanthi Parliamentary Constituencies, the election to which is to be conducted on 25.05.2024 and counting on 04.06.2024.

3. The D.L. & L.R.O., Purba Medinipur is directed to abide by whatever he has stated in the memo dated 07.05.2024 scrupulously without any deviation. Learned counsel representing the State submitted that notice of hearing has been served on the applicant/writ petitioner and he has also acknowledged the receipt of the same.

4. Hence, the application for contempt is disposed of.
