Ms. Zareen N. Khan, Ms. Sreeparna Das ...for the State. The learned advocate appearing for the petitioner submits that the petitioner has been falsely implicated. The petitioner married the victim lady four years ago. A co-accused person has been granted bail by a Coordinate Bench of this Court. Upon completion of investigation chargesheet has also been filed and as such further detention of the petitioner, who is in custody for more than 148 days, is not necessary.

The learned advocate appearing for the State opposes the petitioner's prayer and draws our attention to several documents in the case diary.

Having heard the learned advocates and considering the materials in the case diary, the gravity of the offence and the extent of complicity of the petitioner in the alleged offence, we are not inclined to exercise any discretion in favour of the petitioner and his prayer for bail is rejected, at this stage. Accordingly, the application being C.R.M. 488 of 2021 is dismissed.
