Status report filed by the State, be kept with the records.

The petitioner's prayer for bail was last rejected on merits on September 10, 2024.

The petitioner says that he is in custody for about two years and five months. Witness action has not yet started. There are 11 charge sheet named witnesses. He prays for bail on the ground of delay.

Opposing the bail prayer, learned State Advocate tells us that 199 pieces of counterfeit 500 Rupee notes were seized from the petitioner. All efforts will be made to conclude the trial on an early date.

We see that witness action is about to start. The offence is of a grave nature having adverse repercussion on the

national economy as a whole. If convicted the petitioner may have to suffer life imprisonment.

In view of the gravity of the offence and the prima facie incriminating material available against the petitioner, we are not inclined to allow his prayer for bail, at this stage.

The prayer for bail is rejected.

8.

CRM (DB) 264 of 2025 is dismissed.
