Mr. Debjit Mukherjee ... for the WBSEDCL The grievance of the petitioner is directed against an order of final assessment dated 18 June, 2025.

On behalf of respondent-WBSEDCL, it is submitted that the petitioner has a statutory alternative efficacious remedy and the writ petition is not maintainable.

On behalf of the petitioner, it is submitted that this is a case of theft and section 126 has no application whatsoever.

On a perusal of the impugned order it is found that the impugned order has been passed under section 126 of the Electricity Act, 2003. This writ petition has been filed on 16th January, 2026 after the statutory time period to challenge the order dated 18 June 2025. In view of the available statutory remedy, the instant petition is not maintainable.

WPA 1536 of 2026 stands dismissed on the ground of maintainability.

Liberty is granted to the petitioner to take any available steps in accordance with law, if so advised.
