Re.: CAN 10 of 2026 In FA 220 of 2000 1.

This Court on 30th January, 2026 has found that out of the principal sum being Rs.44,47,165/- the respondents/land losers are entitled to Rs.29,53,307/- and the State is liable to be refund Rs.14,93,858/-. 2.

In terms of this Court's order the Punjab National Bank has given a calculation of the interest accrued on the Fixed Deposit account number ending with 12374. The interest accrued alone appears to be Rs.44,56,037/. 3.

The Registrar General of this Court shall, therefore, apportion a sum of Rs.29,53,307/- payable to the respondent/land loser and quantum of refund of Rs.14,93,858/- payable to the Principal Secretary, Land Department, Government of West Bengal towards the principal amount of compensation.

In so far as interest, which has already accrued in the account is a sum of Rs.44,56,037/-, let further interest be calculated as on date.

The Punjab National Bank shall thereupon calculate and apportion the quantum of interest in proportion to the respective principal sums indicated hereinabove payable to the respondents/land losers and the appellant/ State. 6.

After such apportionment of the interest payable, the principal and interest payable to the respondents/land losers and the sums refundable to the State including principal and interest, let cheques or banker's pay orders be prepared by the Punjab National Bank as indicated above, in the name of the respective respondents/land losers and the Principal Secretary, Land Department, Government of West Bengal and be made over to them and/or through their respective advocates.

It is expected that the aforesaid exercise is carried out by the Punjab National Bank and the Registrar General of this Court within a period of one month from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

With the aforesaid observations CAN 10 of 2026 is disposed of.
