The petitioners, by virtue of a Registered Deed of Gift dated February 06, 1981, had donated a piece of land to the undivided Medinipur Zilla School Board for extension of Uttar Ranichak Prathamik Vidyalaya on a condition that the name of the said school would be changed to incorporate the name of their mother 'Bilasimoyee'.

The Purba Medinipur District Primary School Council, for consideration of the said prayer of the petitioners, had sent the matter to the Commissioner of School Education, Government of West Bengal, the respondent no. 4 herein.

In this backdrop, on behalf of the petitioners, their learned advocate, Mr. Mohini

Mohan Betal, by a representation dated April 01, 2024 had applied before different authorities including the respondent no. 4 for change of the name of the said primary school from 'Uttar Ranichak New Prathamik Vidyalaya' to 'Uttar Ranichak Bilasimoyee Prathamik Vidyalaya'.

The said representation forms part of the writ petition, being Annexure- 'P/11'.

The respondent no. 4 is directed to consider and dispose of the said representation as expeditiously as possible in accordance with law, preferably within period of four weeks from the date of communication of this order, after giving the petitioners an opportunity of hearing.

W.P.A. 1427 of 2025 is disposed of with the above terms without any order as to costs.

No affidavit-in-opposition since has been invited, the allegations made in the writ petition are deemed to have been denied by the respondents.
