Santra ... for the WBUHS Mr. Sirsanya Bandopadhyay Mr. Arka Kumar Nag Ms. Deboleena Ghosh ... for the WBMCC Mr. Sunit Kumar Roy ... for the NMC The prime contention of the petitioner is that in view of vacancy of seats in several medical colleges in the State of West Bengal, the respondent authorities may be directed to allot the petitioner a seat for admission in the MBBS course in any of such vacancies.

Learned counsel for the NMC denies the allegations and relies on an order passed by the Hon'ble Apex Court in Era Lucknow Medical College and Hospital vs. State of Uttar Pradesh and others delivered on 20.12.2024 in Writ Petition (Civil) No.833 of 2024. There, it categorically

directed the admission authorities to hold a fresh stray/special counselling for the seats remaining vacant and complete the admission process prior to 30.12.2024 in any eventuality. Therefore, there is no scope of altering the dates for admission process or the like. In the event the candidate prays for further extension of time, the same has to be done before the Hon'ble Apex Court.

Learned senior counsel for the State adopts the submission advanced on behalf of the NMC.

It appears that the admission authorities were directed to conclude the admission process positively prior to 30.12.2024.

In view of the order passed by the Hon'ble Apex Court as referred to above, there is no scope for intervening in the matter.

Therefore, the writ petition is dismissed without any further order, even as to costs.
