The grievance of the petitioner is directed against the refusal of the respondent authorities in providing an electric connection to the petitioner. Mr. Chattopadhyay appears on behalf of the respondent Distribution Company and submits that there is an order of final assessment dated 11th December, 2019, and the petitioner had committed theft of electricity and had been directed to pay a sum of Rs.1,65,572.

Consequently, the petitioner has been refused a fresh electric connection.

I am of the view that until and unless the amount of Rs.1,65,572/- in terms of the order dated 11th December, 2019 (Annexure P/12 to the writ petition) is paid by the petitioner there is no scope of granting any order in favour of the petitioner. WPA 1490 of 2021 is disposed of. However, there shall be no order as to costs.
