Learned counsel for the petitioner argues that the police are sitting tight on the complaint of the petitioner regarding the wife of the petitioner having been abducted by the private respondents.

It is contended by the petitioner that although a First Information Report was lodged, no further effective steps have been taken as yet by the police authorities. Learned counsel appearing for the State submits on instruction that the police have already taken statements under Section 161 of the Criminal Procedure Code from some of the persons concerned as well as a statement under Section 164 of the Code from an apparently credible witness.

It is further submitted by the State that investigation is going on; however, no effective lead has yet been traced out by the police to complete the investigation.

Be that as it may, it appears from the submissions of the parties that the police have already taken sufficient steps with regard to the concerned FIR and are carrying on the investigation at present.

It would be meaningless to fix any time period for completion of such investigation, since the same depends on the further developments arising in the course of investigation.

As such, W.P.A. 1547 of 2021 is disposed of by directing respondent nos.4 and 5 to make endeavour so that the investigation is completed as expeditiously as possible.

There will be no order as to costs.

Urgent photostat copies of this order, if applied for, be given to the parties upon compliance of all requisite formalities.
