1. The petitioner is aggrieved that her caste certificate has been cancelled by the Sub Divisional Officer, Barasat, 24 Parganas (North), on June 13, 2025. Upon such cancellation the respondent no. 3 has terminated service of the petitioner on August 4, 2025. It is this termination which is under challenge in the present writ petition.

2. The basis of the termination is the cancellation of the caste certificate. The petitioner has preferred an appeal therefrom which is pending before the District Magistrate, 24 Parganas (North) since June 13, 2025.

3. The decision by the appellate authority will guide the termination of the respondent no. 3 dated

August 4, 2025. Thus, it is imperative that the appeal pending before the District Magistrate is decided immediately.

4. Since the State is represented, I direct the District Magistrate, 24 Parganas (North), to deal with such appeal being serial no. G/2183 dated June 13, 2025 within a period of eight weeks by giving an opportunity of hearing to the concerned parties including the added respondent no. 6. The appeal shall be disposed of within the aforestated timelines by passing a reasoned order.

5. With the aforestated directions, the writ petition is, thus, disposed of.

6. There shall, however, be no order as to costs.

7. All parties and the District Magistrate, 24 Parganas (North) are to act on server copies of this order, duly downloaded from the official website of this Hon'ble Court.
