Mr. Sukumar Ghosh, Mrs. Moumita Ghosh ...for the Petitioner Mr. Sujit Sankar Koley ...for WBSEDCL 11-04-2025 AKG Ct. 15 It is undisputed that the electricity connection at the petitioner's premises was disconnected by the West Bengal State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (WBSEDCL) on the ground of pilferage.

A final order of assessment was passed on April 25, 2024, directing the petitioner to deposit a sum of ₹3,32,896/- . It is also not in dispute that the petitioner has already deposited 50% of the assessed amount.

Learned counsel appearing on behalf of the petitioner submits that the petitioner is willing to deposit the remaining amount in easy instalments.

In view of the above, the writ petition is disposed of with the following directions:

The petitioner shall deposit a sum of ₹75,000/- within a period of one month from the date of this order. Such deposit shall be made in addition to the payment of the applicable reconnection charges.

Subject to such payment, the

electricity connection at the relevant premises shall be restored.

The remaining balance shall be paid by the petitioner in three equal instalments, payable within the first week of June, July, and August of the current year.

It is clarified that in the event of any default in compliance with the payment terms as directed herein, the West Bengal State Electricity Distribution Company Limited shall be at liberty to disconnect the petitioner's electricity connection.

This order shall not be treated as a precedent. Accordingly, WPA 1503 of 2025 is disposed of. Urgent certified website copies of this order, if applied for, be made available to the parties upon compliance with the requisite formalities.
