Learned counsel appearing on behalf of the petitioner submits as follows. The petitioner wants to hold Puja of Lord Ram on 22.01.2024 on the occasion of Pran Pratishta of the Ram Mandir at Ayodhya at the Garcheswar Mandir at 10, Garcha 1st Lane, Kolkata-700019 from 5.30pm to 10pm. The Garcheswar Temple is run and maintained by local Harijan Samaj who have requested the petitioner to organise and arrange for such Puja. The organisers may have to construct a small temporary stage, a negligible portion of which may come out on the adjacent road.

Learned senior standing counsel representing the State submits that the Temple is managed by the Harijan Samaj who have apparently given consent to the Puja. Let the participants maintain order so that the other local residents are not harassed.

It appears that the petitioner is going to organise Puja of Lord Ram on 22nd January, 2024 at the Garcheswar Mandir and the local Harijan Samaj, who managed the Mandir apparently gave them permission to do so.

Let such Puja be held by the petitioner on such date, time and venue. However, the organisers of the Puja and the petitioners shall ensure that other local residents have a free passage on the road in front.

The police authorities shall keep a vigil in the area. With these observations, the writ petition is disposed of. Urgent photostat certified copy of this order may be supplied to the parties expeditiously, if applied for. Parties shall act on a server copy downloaded from the official website of this Court.
