The grievance of the petitioner is directed against failure of the CESC authorities in installing a new electric meter in the name of this petitioner at the subject premises.

The CESC Limited is represented and submits that on a site inspection it is being found that there is already a service existence in the premises and they are unable to provide a fresh separate electric connection at the subject premises of the petitioner. It is however, fairly submitted on behalf of the CESC that they are in a position to provide a separate meter on the existing service position which is providing electricity to the said premises.

In view of the submissions made on behalf of the parties, I direct the respondent no.4 to provide a separate electric meter at the existing service at the subject premises. In order to carry out the aforesaid exercise the local Police Station is directed to give all

possible assistance, if necessary. The costs for carrying out the entire exercise for providing a separate meter be also paid by the petitioner in accordance with law. The aforesaid exercise is to be completed within a period of six weeks from date and subject to compliance of all formalities.

With the aforesaid directions, WPA 1769 of 2021 is disposed off. However, there will be no order as to costs.
