The petitioner is registered as a Ph.D. student with the University of Calcutta. Her Supervisor and Joint Supervisor are the 5th and 6th respondents respectively.

The basic grievance of the petitioner is that the Supervisor and the Joint Supervisor are not doing the needful for enabling the petitioner to complete her Ph.D. Certain communications exchanged between the petitioner and the 5th and 6th respondents have also been challenged in this writ petition.

I have heard learned Counsel for the petitioner and the 5th and 6th respondents as also learned Counsel for the Calcutta University. There are

allegations and counter allegations made by the petitioner on one hand and the 5th and 6th respondents on the other against each other.

I do not wish to go into such allegations and counter allegations. With the intervention of Mr. Bhattacharya, learned Counsel representing the petitioner and Mr. Majumdar, learned Counsel representing the 5th and 6th respondents and also with the assistance of Mr. Chatterjee appearing on behalf of the Calcutta University, it appears that the parties have come to an amicable resolution of the disputes between them.

The petitioner is present in Court. Mr. Majumdar's clients suggested a letter of apology that the petitioner should sign. The petitioner has done so in Court today. All allegations made by the petitioner and the counter allegations made by the 5th and 6th respondents against the petitioner stand withdrawn. The 5th and 6th respondents will now do everything that is required to be done by them at the earliest so that the petitioner's thesis may be submitted before the appropriate authority at the earliest. The Supervisor will approve the soft copy of the Ph.D. thesis and will also issue certificate mentioning therein the fact of publication in peer reviewed journal with the statement that the thesis is free from plagiarism. After checking the petitioner's

thesis, the 5th and 6th respondents shall forward the same to the University as soon as possible.

The panel of experts for the written part of the thesis and for viva-voce will also be constituted by the University with due expedition and at the earliest. A copy of the letter of apology signed in Court today by the petitioner be retained with the records. I thank learned Counsel appearing for the parties for bringing this matter to a happy end. Since no affidavit has been called for, the allegations contained in the writ petition are deemed not to be admitted by the respondents.

WPA 1811 of 2021 is, accordingly, disposed of. Urgent Photostat Certified copy of this order, if applied for, be supplied expeditiously after complying with all necessary legal formalities.
