Affidavit-of-service filed in Court today is taken on record.

None appears on behalf of the Asansol Municipal Corporation in spite of service.

The prayer of the petitioner for obtaining water connection is pending consideration at the end of the Asansol Municipal Corporation.

The Asansol Municipal Corporation accepted the water connection fees in August 2020 but till date the connection has not been effected.

The petitioner filed representation before the Asansol Municipal Corporation but to no effect. According to the provision of West Bengal Municipal Corporation Act, 2006, it is the duty of the

Corporation to provide supply of wholesome water for the use of the inhabitants.

In the present case, the Corporation accepted the fees for supply of water in August 2020 but till date the connection has not been effected.

In view of the above, the present writ petition is disposed of by directing the Asansol Municipal Corporation to take necessary steps for giving water connection to the premises of the petitioner in accordance with law, at the earliest, but positively within a period of four weeks from the date of communication of a copy of this order.

The Municipality shall intimate the petitioner the other formalities required for obtaining the water connection and the petitioner shall be obliged to comply with all the formalities required for obtaining the water connection.

The writ petition stands disposed of.

Urgent photostat certified copy of this order be supplied to the parties, if applied for, as early as possible.
