The petitioners have assailed the notice issued by the Block Land & Land Reforms Officer, South 24 Parganas on 18th January, 2022 cancelling the 'patta' of the petitioners under Section 49(2) of the West Bengal Land Reforms Act, 1955.

Since the matter pertains to the West Bengal Land Reforms Act, 1955 which is a Specified Act under Section 2(r) of the West Bengal Land Reforms and Tenancy Tribunal Act, 1997, this Court has no jurisdiction to deal with the matter.

Liberty is granted to the petitioners to approach the appropriate forum for redressal of their grievance. The writ petition, being WPA 1494 of 2022 is disposed of accordingly.

There shall however, be no order as to costs. Urgent certified website copy of this order, if applied for, be furnished to the parties on usual undertakings.
