This matter was filed in 2019 with the prayers that the investigation into the death of the petitioner's daughter should be conducted in a proper manner. It was alleged that the daughter was murdered.

The police authorities registered Beliaghata Police Station Case No.227 dated September 27, 2019 under Sections 498A/304B/34 of the Indian Penal Code, read with Sections 3 and 4 of the Dowry Prohibition Act against the husband of the deceased, father-in-law, mother-in-law and sister-in-law. All the FIR named accused persons were arrested. On October 31, 2019, they were released on bail. After completion of the investigation, a charge-sheet under Sections 498A/304B/34 of the Indian Penal Code, read with Sections 3 and 4 of the Dowry Prohibition Act was filed against all the accused persons.

It is the specific contention in the report prepared by the Officer-in-Charge, Beliaghata Police Station that trial has commenced before the learned Additional District and Sessions Judge, 2nd Court at Sealdah and the next date has been scheduled on November 1, 2022.

In view of the subsequent developments, nothing further remains to be decided in the writ petition. The investigation has been completed, charge-sheet has been filed and trial has commenced. The allegation of police inaction, does not survive.

Accordingly, the writ petition is disposed of. However, there will be no order as to costs.

All the parties are directed to act on the basis of the server copy of this order.
