The petitioners are aggrieved by alleged inaction on the part of the Panchla Police Station in taking cognizance of a complaint of forgery, cheating and impersonation by the private respondent.

Counsel for the State submits that Panchla Police has registered FIR No.386/2021 dated 27th November, 2021 under sections 403, 406, 420, 465, 468, 470, 471 and 120B of the IPC. The investigation, however, remains incomplete till date.

The Officer-in-Charge, Panchla Police Station, Howrah (Rural) District has submitted a report in the form of instructions dated 7th February, 2022 and the same is taken on record.

It is interesting to note that in the report of the public prosecutor before the ACJM concerned, it was mentioned that the conduct of investigation by the IO is "V.V. good". Relevant documents are annexed to the report.

The accused person had filed an application for bail but had not pressed the same and hence it was dismissed by the Sessions Judge.

It is ordered that rigorous effort must be made to apprehend the accused. The investigation must be completed by the IO within a period of 45 days from date mandatorily and positively.

With the aforesaid directions, the writ petition shall stand disposed of.

There shall be no order as to costs.
