1. The petitioner submits, appearing in person with leave of Court, that the petitioner sought to deposit the electricity charges, but could not do the same. The West Bengal State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (WBSEDCL) has disconnected the petitioner's electricity connection accordingly for non-payment of such charges.

2. It is further submitted that the disconnection was done before the scheduled date.

3. It transpires upon hearing the parties that the matter pertains to a disconnection due to nonpayment of electricity charges by the petitioner. There is nothing on record to substantiate the contention that the disconnection was done before the scheduled date or that there was any discrepancy in the bill.

4. In any event, it was open for the petitioner to approach the concerned Grievance Redressal Officer if the petitioner had any dispute regarding the bill. However, in terms of the extant law and regulations, the petitioner is required to deposit the outstanding dues along with reconnection charges for getting a reconnection.

5. Hence, there is no scope of interference in the writ petition.

6. Accordingly, W.P.A. No. 1585 of 2024 is disposed of by granting liberty to the petitioner to pay the outstanding dues along with reconnection charges and other requisite charges, if any, upon which the WBSEDCL shall restore the electricity connection of the petitioner.

7. There will be no order as to costs.

8. Urgent photostat certified copies of this order, if applied for, be made available to the parties upon compliance of all necessary formalities. (Sabyasachi Bhattacharyya, J.)
