Mr. Shyama Prasad Purkait, Mr. Dinesh Ch. Mondal, ....for the petitioner Mr. Subhendu Bandopadhyay, Mr. Biswajit Das, ...for the State The petitioner alleges that Purba Bishnupur Gram Panchayat has undertaken construction of a road encroaching upon a plot of land owned by the petitioner.

The State has filed a report through the Block Development Officer, Bishnupur, which shall be kept on record.

The report suggests that a joint verification shall be conducted by the competent authority, including an officer from the Block Land and Land Reforms Office, Bishnupur, in the presence of the petitioner. Thereafter, necessary action shall be taken based on the landowner's records and the verification report, ensuring that no road is constructed on private land without due process of law.

In view of the foregoing, this Court is not inclined to keep the writ petition pending. The State is directed to undertake the exercise, as indicated in the report, within one month from the date of communication of this order. Until such exercise is completed, the State shall not proceed further with the construction work.

Accordingly, W.P.A. 1835 of 2026 stands disposed of.

There shall be no order as to costs.
