These two writ petitions are being heard together due to the common facts involved.
The affidavit of service, filed in WPA 1842 of 2025, is taken on record.
The petitioners in WPA 504 of 2025 have sought a postponement of the election of the Gopalpur Fishermen's Co-operative Society Limited, Barasat, North 24Parganas. However, the learned advocate for the petitioners in WPA 504 of 2025, at the time of hearing, submits that the petitioners no longer wish to press this writ petition.
The petitioners in WPA 1842 of 2025, on the other hand, assert that the election of the Co-operative Society is long overdue and should be held immediately. Mr.
Srijan Nayak, the learned advocate representing the Co-operative Election Commission, submits that the election can be conducted within a period of three months from the date.
In view of the above, there is no need to keep these writ petitions pending.
Accordingly, these writ petitions are disposed of with a direction upon the West Bengal Co-operative Election Commission to conduct and complete the election process within a period of three months from the date of this order.
It is further directed that the Superintendent of Police, North 24-Parganas, shall provide the necessary
assistance to the West Bengal Co-operative Election Commission for the conduct of the election.
Thus, WPA 504 of 2025 and WPA 1842 of 2025 are hereby disposed of.
There will be no order as to costs.
A photostat certified copy of this order, if applied for, shall be furnished to the parties expeditiously after compliance with all necessary formalities.
A photocopy of this order shall be kept on the record of WPA 1842 of 2025.
