Nandy Mr. Antarikhya Basu ... for the State Learned Counsel for the petitioner submits he is in custody for two years and two months. He prays for bail. Learned Counsel for the State opposes the prayer for bail and submits trial has substantially progressed. We have considered the materials on record. Prosecution evidence is complete. Date has been fixed for examination of the accused under Section 313 of the Code of Criminal Procedure. In view of the materials on record implicating the petitioner in the possession of narcotics above commercial quantity and as trial is as its fag end, we are not inclined to grant bail to the petitioner.

The application for bail is, thus, rejected.

Trial court is directed to expedite the trial and conclude the same at an early date without granting unnecessary adjournments to either of the parties.
