The petitioner's prayer in this writ application is for payment of interest due to delayed payment of gratuity. The petitioner's husband expired on 15.02.2020 and the gratuity amount was paid to her on 28.09.2021. Therefore, she prays for almost nineteen months interest on the gratuity amount.

I direct the District Inspector of Schools (S.E.), Hooghly, being the respondent no.4 to look into the matter immediately and to pass a reasoned order after giving an opportunity of hearing to the petitioner. I do not find any reason to deprive the petitioner from the payment of interest, who is a widow. The District Inspector of Schools will consider the matter within a period of four weeks from the date of communication of this order.

With the above direction and observation, this writ application is disposed of.
