Mina ... for the State-respondent(s) Mr. Kanak Kiran Bandyopadhyay ... for the respondent no.5 The petitioner is aggrieved by the fact that she is unable to enter the kitchen and other areas of the residence because of her son who had affixed a padlock and is trying to restrain her movements.

The petitioner submits that her husband had two tenanted premises and she is being treated in this manner.

The petitioner, to that effect, has informed the concerned police station.

However, the police authorities did not take any action.

Learned advocate for the private respondent disputes the contentions raised and submits that in spite of the petitioner leading a normal life, the accusations have been made against the son because of interference by a third party in the relationship between the son and the mother.

Learned advocate for the State submits a report, which reflects that the police authorities have taken steps under the relevant provisions of law. Learned advocate also submits that since this is absolutely a private dispute, the police authorities cannot interfere.

In view of the petitioner being a senior citizen, I direct the Officer-in-charge of Chitpore police station to engage a lady police personnel, who would, on every alternate day, visit the residence of the petitioner and assess whether any physical and/or mental torture or any access is denied to the petitioner. Such

arrangement would continue for a period of four weeks.

Within the aforesaid period, the petitioner would approach the appropriate authorities under the provisions of Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act, 2007 and any order and/or direction passed by the appropriate authority would be binding upon the police authorities who would respect, obey and implement such order.

With the aforesaid observations, WPA 1957 of 2025 is disposed of.

Pending application(s), if any, is also disposed of.
