Mr. De, learned advocate appearing on behalf of the petitioner prays for expeditious disposal of SC-98 of 2017 arising out of Uttarpara Police Station Case No. 236 dated March 19, 2017 under Sections 498A/304B of the Indian Penal Code(added Section 306 IPC) which is pending before the learned Additional Sessions Judge, 2nd Court, Serampore.

In view of the submissions so advanced, a copy of the revisional application may be handed over to Mr. Arijit Ganguly, learned advocate who ordinarily appears on behalf of the State. His appointment may be regularized by the concerned Authorities in due course.

The case was initiated in the year 2017 and it has been

submitted that till date only the process of examination of the first witness is under process. There are 10 witnesses whom the prosecution intends to examine in support of its case. Having considered the time which has elapsed already in the meantime, I direct the learned Sessions Court to fix schedule of at least three days for examination of the witnesses and to fix a schedule on each and every month so that the trial of the case can be taken to its logical conclusion within a reasonable period of time. In view of the fact that more than five years have expired in the meantime, I direct the learned Sessions Court to proceed with the trial of the case irrespective of any resolution taken by the local Bar. With the aforesaid observations, the present revisional application being CRR 250 of 2023 is disposed of. Learned Magistrate is directed to act on the server copy of this order duly downloaded from the official website of this court.
