Report submitted by the State be kept with the record. Petitioners have prayed for expeditious disposal of S.T.71 of 2019 arising out of Bhadreswar Police Station Case No.60 of 2017 dated February 13, 2017 which is pending before the learned Additional District and Sessions Judge, Chandannagore, Hooghly. It has been informed that the next schedule has been fixed in the month of April, 2024 for cross-examination of the witnesses whose examination-in-chief is completed. It has further been informed that the prosecution in order to prove its case has relied upon 13 witnesses.

Accordingly, I am of the view that as the case was initiated in the year 2017, the learned trial court would fix a schedule of three dates and fix such schedule once in every 45 days so that the trial of the case can be taken to its logical conclusion within a reasonable period of time. No unnecessary adjournment be granted to any of the parties. Learned public prosecutor conducting

the case would produce all the materials, documents and exhibits on the date so fixed for examination of the witnesses. All stakeholders would cooperate with the trial court to conclude the trial at the earliest.

It is reiterated that the trial of the case would continue in spite of any resolution of the local bar if any witness is present in court and the participating advocates will not stall the proceedings. With the aforesaid observations, CRR 345 of 2024 is disposed of.

Pending connected application, if any, is consequently disposed of.

All parties shall act on the server copy of this order duly downloaded from the official website of this Court. Urgent photostat certified copy of this order, if applied for, be supplied to the parties upon compliance of all requisite formalities.
