Akhter .....For the Petitioner Mr. Arijit Ganguly Mrs. Debjani Sahu .....For the State Learned advocate appearing for the petitioner prays for expeditious disposal of G.R. Case No.1194 of 2003 pending before the Learned Judicial Magistrate, 2nd Court, Hooghly (Sadar). The records of the case reflect that the case was initiated in the year 2003 and, as such, it can be presumed that the same is pending for about 19 years. It was at the instance of the petitioner that the criminal case was set into motion. Naturally, the outcome or fate of the case has some impact on the petitioner. Mrs. Debjani Sahu, learned advocate who ordinarily appears on behalf of the State is directed to represent the State. Her appointment may be regularized by the concerned authorities.

It is directed henceforth that on and from 1st February, 2023, the learned Trial Court will fix date once in every fortnight so that the trial of the case can be taken to its logical conclusion within a reasonable period of time. It is further directed that in case any witness is absent all efforts must be taken through the Officer-in-Charge of the concerned police station so that the witness may be compelled to appear before the Court. The

documents must be made available by the Learned Public Prosecutor on the date so fixed by the Learned Trial Court. No unnecessary adjournment should be granted to any of the parties. Learned Trial Court would take steps so that by 28th February, 2024 the trial of the case is concluded. Learned advocate appearing for the petitioner is directed to serve a copy of the revisional application upon Mrs. Debjani Sahu, learned advocate appears on behalf of the State.

With the aforesaid observations, C.R.R. 186 of 2021 is disposed of. Pending applications, if any, are consequently disposed of. All parties are directed to act on the server copy of this order downloaded from the official website of this Hon'ble Court. (Tirthankar Ghosh, J.)
