Both the petitioners are presently working as State Aided College Teachers, Category-II at Netaji Nagar College for Women. Both the petitioners claim that they have Master's Degree in "Film Studies". They claim the status of State Aided College Teachers, Category-I. The petitioners submit that in "Film Studies", no NET or SLET examination is conducted. Therefore, they cannot possess the said qualification though they are otherwise qualified to be appointed as State Aided College Teachers, Category-I.

It appears that the petitioners have submitted a representation before the Director of Public

Instruction, West Bengal on July 24, 2023, but the same has not yet been considered.

In that view of the matter, this writ petition is disposed of with a direction upon the Director of Public Instruction, West Bengal to consider the representation of the petitioners dated July 24, 2023 in accordance with law within a period of two months from the date of communication of this order. The Director of Public Instruction, if necessary, shall afford an opportunity of hearing to the petitioners.

Accordingly, WPA 1849 of 2024 is disposed of. (Kausik Chanda, J.)
