The petitioners are aggrieved by the payment that has been made on account of maintenance in terms of the notification dated December 11, 2015.

According to the notification, maintenance allowance of Rs.1,000/- per month for a boarder shall be given for ten months for one academic year.

The petitioners submit that despite providing service for twelve months in a year, payment has been made only for a period of ten months which, according to the petitioners, is illegal. It has been submitted that such notification was not made known to the petitioners at the time of engagement.

It appears that the engagement of the petitioners was in the year 2016 but the notification relying on which payment was made was in existence since 2015. The petitioners ought to have known the scale of payment either prior to or at the time of engagement. After the work is over and

payment has been made, the petitioners ought not to turn around and feign ignorance of the rate chart pursuant to which payment has been made to them.

In view of the above, no further relief can be granted to the petitioners. The writ petition fails and is hereby dismissed.
