Dastoo, ASG Ms. Debjani Ghosh ... ... for the Union of India Ms. Sonal Sinha .... ... for the SEC This petition has been filed by the petitioner claiming himself to be a social activist and praying for a direction to the respondent West Bengal Election Commission to deploy adequate number of Central Forces during the Municipal Elections in West Bengal. Having examined the record, it is noticed that the writ petition is bereft of material particulars. No document in support of the plea of violence during the Municipal Corporation Elections has been enclosed. In the writ petition also, no incidents of violence has been disclosed. In the writ petition, a blanket prayer has been made for deployment of Central Forces during the Municipal Elections in the State without disclosing the ground situation in any particular Municipal Corporations/Councils.

This Court on earlier occasion, at the stage of Kolkata Municipal Corporation Election by order dated 27th December, 2021 passed in MAT 1354 of 2021 and subsequently at the stage of Bidhannagar Municipal Corporation Election by the order dated 10th February, passed in WPA (P) of and WPA (P) 299 of 2021 had issued necessary directions on this issue of deployment of the Paramilitary Forces having regard to the materials placed on record in those petitions.

Since in the present petition, no material in support of the plea for deployment of the Central Forces has been placed on record, therefore, we do not find any merit in this petition, which is accordingly dismissed. (Prakash Shrivastava, C.J.) (Rajarshi Bharadwaj, J.)
