Petitioner is in custody for three years and ten months. He submits there is inordinate delay in trial. He prays for bail. Learned Advocate for the State opposes the bail prayer. He submits trial is in progress. Dates have been fixed for examination of prosecution witnesses.

We have considered the materials on record. Trial is in progress.

In view of the aforesaid circumstance and the incriminating materials implicating the petitioner in the offence of possessing narcotic substance, we are not inclined to grant bail to the petitioner.

Accordingly, the prayer for bail of the petitioner is rejected.

Trial court is requested to expedite the trial and conclude the same at an early date preferably within one year from the
