The petitioner seeks interest for delayed disbursement of gratuity. The petitioner retired as an Accountant of the College on 31st December, 2016. The Pension Payment Order was issued on 24th August, 2017 and the gratuity was released on 13th October, 2017. Counsel submits that there is hence a considerable period of delay from the date of retirement to the payment of gratuity.

The State is represented.

Let interest @ 8% per annum be paid to the petitioner to be calculated from 1st January, 2017 to 13th October, 2017.

The respondent no.5 is directed to pay the said amount to the petitioner within a period of four weeks from date.

WPA 786 of 2018 is disposed of in terms of the above.
