Mr. Swapan Kumar Nandi, Mr. Debashish Basak, Mr. Mayukh Mukherjee ....for the contemnors The present contempt application has been preferred alleging violation of the order dated 29th July, 2024 passed in the writ petition being WP.CT 200 of 2024. Records reveal that pursuant to the said order, the claim of the petitioner no.2 was considered and she was asked to opt for appointment in Group D category or to appear in an examination for being considered in a post under Group C category. Initially, the petitioner no.2 was not successful in the said examination and as such the authorities could not take appropriate steps to appoint her in Group C post.

Mr. Mazumder, learned Deputy Solicitor General of India appearing for the alleged contemnors submits that pursuant to our earlier direction, the petitioner no.2 was given another opportunity to participate in the examination which was scheduled on 17th April, 2026.

He apprises us that she participated in the said examination and emerged to be successful having secured 54 marks.

He further submits, upon instruction, that the petitioner no.2 would be given appointment in a Group-C post as early as possible preferably within a period of three weeks from date. Let the memo dated 31st October, 2025 and 4th May, 2026, as placed, be kept on record. In view of such submission, we are not inclined to proceed with the contempt application any further and the same is, accordingly, disposed of.
