We have considered the materials on record.

Petitioner had entered into an agreement with registered owner of the vehicles to run the said vehicles against hire charges. He did not pay the hire charges and it is alleged that he had transferred the vehicles to third parties. Two of the vehicles have already been recovered.

In light of the aforesaid circumstances, we are of the opinion that custodial interrogation for recovery of the vehicles is not necessary and he may be granted anticipatory bail.

Accordingly, we direct that in the event of arrest, the petitioner viz., Sumit Khanra be released on bail upon furnishing a bond of Rs.10,000/- with two sureties of like amount each, to the satisfaction of the Arresting Officer and also subject to the conditions as laid down under Section 482(2) of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023.

Petitioner shall meet the Investigating Officer of Durgapur Police Station once in a week until further orders.j Petitioner shall appear before the jurisdictional court and pray for regular bail within four weeks from date. 5.

The application for anticipatory bail is, thus, disposed of.
