Mr. Ganga Prasad Mukherjee Ms. Anuskha Misra ... for the petitioner Mr. Partha Sarathi Basu ... for CESC It is the case of the petitioner that he constructed the house under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana and applied for electricity connection. However, owing to the objection raised by the private respondent Nos. 5 and 6, the respondent nos. 2 & 3 could not provide the electricity connection to the petitioner's building. The petitioner filed various representations before the concerned authority, however, all in vain. Learned counsel for the respondent / C.E.S.C. submits that they are willing to provide the electricity connection if adequate police protection is provided for carrying out their statutory duty. Learned counsel also sought the permission to break open the padlock.

In view thereof, the writ petition is disposed of with a direction to the respondent no. 4 to provide adequate police protection to the officials and staffs of respondent nos. 2 & 3 while installing the electricity connection to the petitioner's premises. Police authorities are permitted to break open the padlock, if so required.

The cost of the said police protection shall be recovered from the petitioner.

The writ petition is disposed of.
