On perusal of the averment made in the instant revision, this Court is of the view that the instant revision can be disposed of here and now with the assistance of the learned Public Prosecutor-inCharge. Therefore, Mr. Anwar Hossain, learned Advocate is requested to assist this Court on behalf of the State of West Bengal. This is an application for a direction upon the Trial Court for expeditious hearing of the case. It is submitted on behalf of the petitioner that he was arrested with codeine mixture of commercial

quantity on 27th June, 2021. Since then he is in custody. The Trial Court received charge-sheet on 8th November, 2021 and charge has been framed on 19th April, 2022. Out of 18 charge-sheeted witnesses, the Trial Court examined only two witnesses till date. As the petitioner is languishing in custody, he has prayed for expeditious disposal of the case.

Having heard the learned Advocate for the petitioner and the learned Public Prosecutor-in-Charge, I find that though charge was framed on 19th April, 2022, till date only two witnesses have been examined. Therefore, the instant revision is disposed of directing the learned Trial Judge to take expeditious step for examination of remaining witnesses and dispose of the case at an early date without hampering his daily diary.
