Mr. Krishna Pada Santra ....for the petitioner 1) Learned advocate representing the petitioner has filed affidavit of service enclosing notice dated 3rd April, 2025 which was served upon learned advocate representing State respondents in terms of order dated 2nd April, 2025. Same is taken on record.

2) In spite of service of notice, State respondents are not represented today.

3) Petitioner is a retired Assistant Teacher, who superannuated on 31st January, 2016. After superannuation of petitioner, Pension Payment Order was issued on 21st September, 2017 releasing retiral dues in favour of the petitioner. Petitioner claims interest on gratuity due to delayed payment.

4) Accordingly, the Director of Pension Provident Fund and Group Insurance and the concerned Treasury Officer are directed to pay interest at the rate of 8% per annum to the petitioner on gratuity from the date following the date of retirement of the petitioner till the date of release of gratuity, within a period of eight weeks from the date of communication of this order.

5) Since no affidavit is called for, the allegations contained in the writ petition are deemed not to have been admitted. 6) With the above observation, the writ petition stands disposed of.

7) There shall be no order as to costs.

8) Urgent photostat certified copy of the order, if applied for, be given to the parties on usual undertakings. (Saugata Bhattacharyya, J.)
