Seen the detailed report filed by Sub-Inspector Manirujaman Mani, Murshidabad Detective Department, CID, West Bengal. It appears that the investigating agency has taken adequate steps so far, with regard to the collection of evidence, seizure of the truck and other relevant articles, examination of witnesses, interrogation of the accused persons at Pune and the owners of the vehicle at Indore have been done repeatedly. The other coaccused persons whose names transpired during such interrogation were tracked down. Identification of one of the miscreants in the TI parade was done by the driver of the vehicle from whom the alleged vehicle was allegedly

hijacked. The driver could not identify two other persons. The police report is taken on record.

The police authorities have submitted that some of the co-accused persons are absconding. The mobile tower locations are being monitored. Several rounds of interrogations have been conducted upon permission from the learned jurisdictional Magistrate at Pune, where six of the accused persons had been arrested by the Pune police.

Under such circumstances, the CID has submitted that some more time would be required to complete the investigation of Sagardighi PS Case No.284 of 2020 dated June 3, 2022 under Sections 363/392 of the Indian Penal Code. Such prayer is made on the ground that the investigation involves long distance travel and further collection of evidence.

The writ petition is, thus, disposed of, with the expectation that the investigation is expedited and reached to its logical conclusion expeditiously. There will be no order as to costs.
