The petitioner was granted settlement of Ferry Ghat for the period February 1, 2023 to December 31, 2023. The period of settlement is over.

The petitioner submits that because of the damaged condition of the Ferry Ghat, the petitioner was not in a position to run the ferry and, accordingly, he had to suffer huge financial loss. The petitioner seeks extension of the lease period.

A supplementary affidavit has been filed by the petitioner wherefrom it appears that the lease period has been extended till June 30, 2024 subject to payment of the necessary charges.

From the communication made by the Additional Executive Officer, South 24 Parganas Zilla Parishad on February 9, 2024 it appears that the prayer of the petitioner seeking extension of the period of lease was forwarded to the Block Development Officer for necessary consideration. The lease period has already been extended.

In view of the above, no further order is required to be granted in the instant writ petition.

The same stands disposed of.

Report filed by the Block Development Officer, Gosaba, South 24 Parganas dated February 5, 2024 is taken on record.
