Roy ...for the University The petitioner who is employed with the Kalyani University on compassionate ground after the demise of his father and has been occupying the quarters allotted by the university in favour of his father initially, prays for permission by the university to purchase the quarters. The petitioner submitted a representation in this regard before the university on 14th December, 2022 which is yet to be considered. The petitioner prays for a direction upon the university to consider the representation at the earliest.

It is submitted on behalf of the university that since the university is an instrument of the Government of West Bengal, the representation submitted by the petitioner is required to be forwarded to the 1st respondent for consideration in order to avoid technical issues.

The 1st respondent is directed to consider and dispose of the same within two weeks from the date of receipt thereof upon affording reasonable opportunity of hearing to all the interested persons including the petitioner, in accordance with law. The decision taken by the authority shall be communicated to the petitioner within a week thereafter. With the above observations and directions this writ petition is disposed of.

There shall be, however, no order as to costs. Since no affidavit is invited, the allegations contained in the petition are deemed not to be admitted. Urgent certified website copy of this order, if applied for, be furnished to the parties upon compliance of necessary formalities.
