The petitioner is in custody for more than a year. Though he does not appear to be the principal assailant who inflicted the fatal blow on the victim, he was part of the group who assaulted the victim jointly. Charges have been framed. Key witnesses are yet to be examined. Upon consideration of the material on record, particularly the gravity of the offence and the role of the petitioner, the prayer for bail is rejected at this statge. The bail application is disposed of.
