The report encloses an e-mail received from Ronita Chatterjee, who is presently residing at USA. An e-mail has been communicated to the Salanpur P.S., which reflects that the lady/Ronita Chatterjee earlier known as Ronita Sharma, has expressed her desire to release the accused persons from the present case as the same arose out of matrimonial dispute.

The report so submitted enclosing the e-mail, which is in the form of a declaration, be kept with the record. I find that the petitioners before this court are the father in law, mother in law and the aunt in law of the o.p. no.2.

The report so submitted (referred to above) reflects that the husband of the o.p. no.2 due to poor health

condition expired during pendency of the present case being Salanpur P.S. Case No. 173 of 2015 dt. 5.10.2015. Having considered the intention expressed by the o.p. no.2 in her communication and the report so submitted by the inspector in charge of Salanpur P.S., I am of the opinion that further continuation of the proceedings which relates to Salanpur P.S. Case No. 173 of 2015 dated 5.10.2015 along with the charge-sheet submitted in connection with the said case under sections 498(A)/406/34 of the IPC read with Section 4 of the DP Act pending before the ld. CJM, Purba Burdwan, is hereby quashed. With the aforesaid observations, CRR 405 of 2024 is allowed.

Pending application, if any, is also disposed of. Parties to act on a server copy of this order duly collected from the official website of the Hon'ble High Court, Calcutta.
