Khatian No. 690, under Mouza Kendua, P.S. Basirhat, District North 24 Parganas, by a registered sale deed dated August 11, 2016. Her name has also been duly recorded in the relevant land records. The petitioner alleges that the Chaiti Gram Panchayat, for the purpose of implementing the Swachh Bharat Mission, has forcefully occupied the said land owned by her without issuing any prior notice. It is stated that she lodged several complaints before various authorities against such alleged action of the Panchayat. Pursuant to her complaint, the Block Development Officer, Basirhat-II Development Block, District North 24 Parganas, convened a meeting on January 7, 2025. The petitioner participated in the said hearing; however, no further steps appear to have been taken thereafter.
The learned advocate appearing for the State submits that he is not aware of any decision that may have been
taken pursuant to the said hearing held on January 7, 2025.
In view of the aforesaid factual backdrop, this writ petition is disposed of with a direction upon the Block Development Officer, Basirhat-II Development Block, District North 24 Parganas, to communicate to the petitioner the outcome of the hearing conducted on January 7, 2025, within a period of two weeks from the date of communication of this order.
The petitioner shall be at liberty to take appropriate steps in accordance with law upon receiving such communication from the Block Development Officer, Basirhat-II Development Block, District North Parganas.
Accordingly, WPA 2429 of 2025 stands disposed of. Urgent certified website copies of this order, if applied for, be made available to the parties upon compliance with the requisite formalities.
