The petitioner complains that as many as fourteen complaints have been lodged against him and the majority of which have been lodged around the same date. FIRs have been registered.

It is submitted that the petitioner is under serious threat and danger to his life. He is therefore unable to enter into his constituency to file nomination and campaigning. It is also submitted that the petitioner is unable to enter into the locality where the residence is situated for fear of harm. A complaint has been lodged by the petitioner's mother being FIR No.217 of 2021 which has been registered with the Chinsurah PS.

The Officer-in-Charge, Mogra Police Station has filed a report dated January 14, 2022. It appears from the said report that chargesheet have been filed in eleven out of fourteen cases against the petitioner. The police have no further role to play in the matters against the petitioner. So far as the other three cases against the petitioner and one filed by the petitioner's family member, it is expected that investigation is completed as early as possible.

Since the petitioner expresses serious threats to his life and limb, the petitioner shall be accompanied by an armed constable of the Mogra Police Station while filing his nomination. It shall be ensured that the petitioner is not harmed or prevented in filing his nomination. Insofar as, the petitioner's residence is concerned, appropriate security arrangement may be made by the Mogra Police Station.

It is made absolutely clear that accompaniment of constable and the posting of the security detail in and around the petitioner's residence and persons shall be at his exclusive costs and expense. The number of police personnel shall be determined by the O.C. Mogra P.S.

Petitioner shall communicate this order to the Mogra Police Station. The security may be deployed only upon payment of necessary costs.

With the aforesaid observations, the writ petition is disposed of.

There shall be no order as to costs.
